The Healthy Indoors Partnership (HIP)

The Healthy Indoors Partnership (HIP) is an industry association which catalyzes action on Canadian indoor environmental issues through multi-stakeholder collaboration. We connect people, ideas and resources from government, industry, educational & research institutions, and public interest groups to provide the tools and expertise to promote healthy indoor environments. Together, we are accomplishing more than any of our members could alone.

We offer a range of opportunities for businesses, governments and non-government organizations to work together, for mutual benefit, to create healthier indoor environments and a range of communication vehicles for reaching consumers and industry professionals with an interest in healthier indoor environments.

Mandate

The mandate of the Healthy Indoors Partnership is to bring industry, government and non-government organizations together to identify, develop, implement activities designed to create healthier indoor environments in Canada. HIP is not intended to replace or duplicate existing efforts to improve indoor environment quality, but rather to complement and help coordinate them.

Mission

To facilitate collaboration and partnerships in order to create and maintain healthier indoor
environments across Canada.

Goals

To establish and grow the capacity of the Healthy Indoors Partnership.

  • To expand membership and partnership base to have a balanced representation of organizations in different markets , government, and NGO sectors, along with different geographic regions.
  • To achieve major health gains and improve professional education.
  • To foster the design of healthier new and renovated buildings.
  • To stimulate nationwide action to enhance and maintain health in existing structures.
  • To create and use innovative products, materials, and technologies.
  • To promote health conscious individual behavior and consumer awareness.

Get involved in many ways

1. IAQ Awareness Campaign

HIP will implemente an IAQ awareness campaign in Ontario with a planned roll- out across Canada. Through the combined efforts of our members and government associates we will create a public relations program to educate Canadians on the current state of IAQ and how they can best improve it in their homes and at work. The awareness campaign will specifically emphasize health concerns, and encourage testing for potential problems. We will drive responses to our website which will act as a portal for information and answers to all inquiries. Through the establishment of an IAQ email list we will publish a quarterly eNewsletter. The HIP website is designed to promote IAQ with giveaways and prizes, access our members, service providers, and information on all government and NGO programs and initiatives.

2. HIP Roundtable Series:

HIP has convened several successful national roundtables to develop consensus documents on
a number of IAQ issues including: IAQ Training, fi ltration products and low chemical emissions
Buyer’s Guides. HIP will convene the next roundtable on ventilation.

3. IAQ Conference and Trade Show:

HIP will run an IAQ Trade Show, Conference, and Ventilation Roundtable. This two day event will offer many opportunities to network and educate you and your staff on the most up to date
IAQ information delivered by leading industry and government leaders.

4. Webinar Series & Education:

HIP will offer to its members and consumers an ongoing webinar- based education series to
allow you, your staff, and customers an easy and affordable way to stay current on IAQ issues.
HIP also runs quarterly IAQ educations seminars in IAQ training, led by HIP members and
free to all HIP members staff and suppliers.
